6 Week Wheel-Throwing Course - All Levels
£360
This 6-week wheel-throwing course is perfect for complete beginners as well as returning students or those with some experience who are ready to refine and push their skills further.
With a maximum of just 6 students per class, you’ll receive plenty of individual guidance in a relaxed and supportive studio environment. Our small class sizes allow tutors to tailor demonstrations and feedback to your level, helping you build confidence and make steady progress week by week — whether you’re brand new to the wheel or returning to develop and strengthen your technique.
Running once a week for two and a half hours over 6 weeks, the course gives you the time and continuity needed to develop your technique on the wheel.
For beginners you’ll learn the foundations of wheel-throwing, including preparing clay, centring, pulling up walls, shaping forms, and finishing techniques. As the course progresses, you’ll also explore trimming and glazing, creating functional pieces such as bowls, mugs, and small vases. More experienced students will be encouraged to refine consistency and explore more advanced forms.
Each participant has their own dedicated potter’s wheel.
There is an additional materials fee of £10 per kilo, covering clay, glaze, and firings (weighed at the leather-hard stage after turning).
Please read the Terms and Conditions in the Classes drop-down menu before booking, as you will be asked to agree to them at checkout.

Learning to throw on the wheel is a rewarding and grounding creative experience. It helps develop focus, patience, and fine motor skills, while offering a hands-on way to explore form and function. The rhythmic nature of wheel-throwing can be deeply meditative, helping to reduce stress and promote mindfulness. As you shape clay with your own hands, you'll gain a unique sense of achievement and connection to the material—plus, you'll create beautiful, functional pieces to enjoy or share.

You're welcome to keep as much of your work from the course as you like. Any pieces you choose to keep will be weighed at the leather-hard stage, after trimming. A fee of £10 per kilo applies, which covers the cost of clay, glazes, and both firings. We encourage students to be thoughtful about what they choose to keep, focusing on pieces they're proud of or would like to see finished.
